My Services

Areas of Expertise

Maternity Nursing

With over three decades of experience, I have had the privilege of assisting families in integrating their newborn(s) into their new family dynamic. My approach is rooted in Gentle Parenting, a philosophy I instinctively adopted while raising my own two children, both now in their late teens. This nurturing method has guided my practice, fostering trust and emotional security for both babies and parents.

I believe some of my strongest traits are:

  • Communication: Effective communication is vital when a ‘stranger’ enters the home of parents to care for their baby. Every parent has certain expectations and I believe it is imperative to listen and action a parents expectations. This is also essential to pick up the cues of the baby and respond accordingly.

  • Adaptability: A great maternity nurse needs to be flexible in order to adjust to possible changes in schedules, unexpected situations or anything that may disrupt the flow of routines within the home.

  • Patience and positivity: As we all know, each role has different challenges and it is so important to remain positive and have patience, whether it is with a mum who is extremely hormonal or a baby that has had a difficult birthing process. To remain calm and positive is imperative in order to give clear and calm guidance, especially to first time parents.

Approach to Care

Establishing routines from the outset is key to providing stability for both baby and parents. I focus on creating structured feeding and sleeping habits, always communicating the importance of consistency with parents. My gentle, unobtrusive presence helps alleviate stress, while maintaining a clean, orderly environment that fosters a sense of calm for the entire household.

Whether supporting breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or tandem feeding, I approach each family’s preferences with respect and care. I emphasize the importance of baby-centric habits without reliance on props, promoting long-term stability. Additionally, I incorporate age-appropriate brain gym activities and developmental games to encourage early cognitive and language development.

Contract Structure

Every family is unique, and I offer flexible contract durations tailored to individual needs. Based on in-house research, the following framework has proven highly effective:

  • Initial Postpartum Phase (4-6-12 weeks): 24/6 or 24/7 care, with daily breaks of 4-5 hours each morning and weekly breaks of 12-24 hours during daytime hours (6am-6pm). This structure provides consistent care for the baby while supporting the mother’s postpartum recovery.

  • Transitional Phase: After the initial phase, I recommend 2-3 weeks of nights-only care (6pm-7/8am, season-dependent). This gradual transition helps both mother and baby adjust to independent routines while navigating growth spurts and feeding changes.

I am open to longer contract terms or extending existing contracts, always prioritizing the comfort and needs of the family. With dedication, compassion, and a wealth of experience, I am committed to supporting families through the transformative journey of welcoming a new baby into their lives.

Sleep & Independence Training

My sleep training techniques are fully aligned with the Sleep-Time and Nurture-Me-Naturally protocols, having been personally mentored by Dez Dorman, the pioneer of the Sleep-Time Sleep & Independence Training Protocols. Developed in the early 1980s, these protocols have been continuously refined over four decades to support both in-house sleep training and, more recently, remote online distance-support through the 14-21 Day DIY Email Feedback Sleep & Independence Training Program. This method empowers families to recalibrate their baby’s circadian rhythm, address poor feeding, napping, or sleep habits, and eliminate any sleep props that hinder deep, uninterrupted sleep between 7 pm and 7 am.

My Sleep-Time approach is baby-centric, rooted in Gentle Parenting principles—never involving the Cry It Out” method.

Before commencing the program, we conduct a comprehensive consultation, gathering an in-depth history of pregnancy, labour, delivery, and early life to identify potential factors contributing to sleep disruptions. Based on this analysis, a tailored action plan is developed. Once parents commit to the plan, the sleep training process begins with ongoing professional guidance and support.

Baby Massage & Foot Reflexology

Bath and Massage time is often the highlight of the baby’s day, which I gently integrate into the baby’s routine. In the early days, this begins with a light oil rub and progresses to a full bath and comprehensive body massage once the umbilical cord has naturally exfoliated.

The Sleep-Time Massage Techniques I have developed combine various modalities, including Ayurvedic and Hindu traditions, baby yoga, craniosacral therapy, and foot reflexology. These techniques are designed to promote soft tissue, visceral, and biomechanical release as needed. Beyond providing soothing comfort, baby massage plays a vital role in nurturing brain development, midline awareness, eye-hand coordination, and concentration.

As part of my service, I offer personalized, hands-on instruction—along with written techniques—to parents and/or nannies a few days before the completion of my Maternity or Sleep Training assignments.

Placenta Encapsulation & Tinctures

I offer the full service of both versions of Placenta encapsulation, namely ‘raw dried’, & ‘CTM steam-dried’ methods of encapsulation, as well as the full range of tinctures (ø) and herbal balms. The Umbilical ø which contains the highest concentration of a baby’s polymorphic stem cells, can be used for any malady from teething issues to chronic illnesses. The Placenta ø is for the mum during times of hormonal & emotional change (stress, moving house &/or menopause, etc). A variety of Matridonal homeopathic remedies can also be supplied (compiled by Dez Dorman who is a Homeopath). I offer a collection service of the placenta from the hospital shortly after the birth, and delivery of the finished products to your home, in the event that I am not be present at the birth and/or overseeing your post-partum care.

Testimonials

We knew Kirsty very well as she had been the Nanny to my cousin’s three youngest children for many years. As a single parent with a demanding career in the banking industry, I knew Kirsty was the perfect nanny for Kelly! Kirsty is easy-going with a sunny disposition and warm, kind, compassionate nature; she was a great comfort to us all when my mum was diagnosed and became terminally ill. Kirsty was a true rock and was always willing to go that extra mile ~ far beyond her remit as Kelly’s nanny ~ and assist with whatever needed doing Kirsty was always punctual, very flexible and accommodating if I had to work late or was delayed in peak hour traffic and she never missed work due to illness or personal issues!

We were both very grateful to Kirsty and I would highly recommend her as a Maternity Nurse and/or Nanny to any loving family, & wish her every success in her new endeavours abroad.

Kirsty was a life saver! She stepped in with such confidence and surety which allowed me to breathe and know that I was doing everything possible for my daughter to thrive and made me believe that I could do this on my own. When I was 3 months pregnant, we had contracted Kirsty for 8 weeks to ease us into our new parenting roles but my husband I separated when I was 5 months pregnant (and divorced while I was still pregnant) and consequently Kirsty kindly obliged to prolong her contract and stay with me for the first 6 months of my daughter’s life which was a god send. Not only as a new mother but also because I had to return to my demanding career.

After her 6-month contract, I have subsequently asked her to come to my aide multiple times, firstly with sleep training Chante, and then stepping in to proxy parent my daughter when I was required to travel out of time for work.  I highly recommend Kirsty for any position she is needed for as I do not know what our lives would’ve been like without her there with me every step of the way.

Anelle MacKinley

My partner and I employed Kirsty as our Maternity Nurse on a 24/6 basis (7 nights/6 days) for six months when our son was born by surrogate in Austen, Texas. Kirsty joined us ten days prior to Aiden’s birth to help set up his nursery & guide us on what to buy for our newborn. Kirsty had Aiden sleeping through the night from approx. 14 weeks of age, and introduced solid foods when Aiden was ready; Kirsty prepared everything from scratch & often prepared meals for us too. Aiden has continued to grow into a happy, calm toddler – we put this down to Kirsty’s influence in his early life – for this we are very grateful!

Kirsty was able to come in at a moment’s notice when our baby was born six weeks early as the Maternity Nurse we had booked was still contracted at her previous baby. Kirsty was an absolute saviour (referred to us by a family friend whom she had worked for over the years), she joined us at The Kensignton Wing of Chelsea & Westminister Hospital in where she & I roomed in together so she could assist me with hand-expressing colostrum & pumping breastmilk as baby was initially tube-fed in NICU. She encouraged skin-to-skin whilst Leo was still in an incubator & had him taking little feeds directly from the breast within a week at which time he joined us in the room until we were discharged on day 13.

Kirsty is structured but gentle, great at time-management & organised, and the nursery was always neat & tidy. She is very accommodating and flexible – always happy to change her daily break at the last minute if necessary & had no qualms to include the kids when knocking together a quick meal for herself when babysitting when we were out for dinner.

We all loved having Kirsty in our home and the older children talk about her fondly. We have already referred her to a couple of our friends for Sleep Training. We highly recommend her as she would be an asset to any family!

Kirsty Wright was our Maternity Nurse on two occasions. The main reason we hired Kirsty with Jamie, was mainly to assist with nights & to muck in during the day if the older siblings needed help. Kirsty was great she was always willing to get involved with our older children, whether to make them a snack after school, or breakfast on the weekends. She quickly got Jamie into a good routine, and he was doing really well by the time Kirsty left.

Our twins were born unexpectedly whilst we were visiting family in London, and thankfully Kirsty was available to help out when our maternity nurse had to leave to another contract. Both boys were sleeping well overnight by the time Kirsty left. She is easy-going, light-hearted and the children enjoyed her humour & pranks. She is a good cook and often volunteered to prepare healthy meals for all the family.

We all love Kirsty’s sunny personality, and she is a very professional calm & efficient maternity nurse who could slot into any family situation – we highly recommend her!
